2007 TALLGRASS FILM FEST, TAKE “5” POSTER CONTEST!

WICHITA, KS, May 10, 2007 - The Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA) and the Tallgrass Film Festival announced their first-ever Film Festival Poster Contest. Celebrating its momentous fifth year this October 19-21, the 2007 festival theme is TAKE 5 AT THE TALLGRASS FILM FESTIVAL. “The poster contest is a great way to help celebrate this festival’s achievements, as well as honor the city and community that has supported us for five years,” said Festival Marketing Director Lee Whitman.

TAKE “5”  POSTER CONTEST:

Throughout Wichita, from street signs to billboards; from homes to businesses; from T-shirts to license plates, the number “5” can be found everywhere. Each of these “5”’s is representative of something or someone in the greater Wichita community.  The Tallgrass Poster Contest challenges Wichitans to take and submit photographs of their favorite “5”s. “Be creative, the possibilities are endless,” Whitman said.

Photos will be judged by Tallgrass Film Festival Staff and a Panel of Experts, comprised of local photographers and artists including Fernando Salazar of the Wichita Eagle, Elizabeth Stevenson of Fisch Haus, Brad Ruder of the Tangent Lab Gallery and Gavin Peters of Gavin Peters Photo.

“There are so many creative people in our community,” said WAMPA President Dan Gray. “The photography contest offers one more way for people to share their artistic expression with the city, and all of the visiting filmmakers and movie- buffs who attend the film festival every October.”

AWARDS:

The Official 2007 Tallgrass Film Festival poster will include a collage of the winning photographs. Winners will receive two (2) All Access Festival Passes ($100 value per pass, non-refundable), an official festival poster, written recognition on festival website and program; and every winning photograph will also be shown as part of an art exhibit displayed during the weekend-long festival.

SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS:

All photos must be received digitally (300 dpi JPEG format) and emailed to tallgrasspostercontest@gmail.com. Limit 5 entries per contestant. Entry deadline is August 1, 2007. Winners will be notified no later than August 15, 2007.
