On the Road with Tallgrass
2015 Tallgrass Road Show highlights Kansas Filmmaker Patrick Rea
The 2015 Tallgrass Film Festival Road Show hits the trail for its first stop at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City, Kansas on March 8 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $5. The screening series is a program of the Tallgrass Film Association and the Kansas Historic Theatre Association. The road show is designed to give the people of Kansas a look at the current landscape of independent film and a preview of festivals to come and each screening serves as a fundraiser for the presenting historical theater.
“Now in its fourth season, this year’s film line up includes a retrospective of one of our most prolific Kansas filmmaker contributors, Patrick Rea,” said Gretchen Mitchell, Tallgrass Film Festival Programming Director. “We wanted to showcase Rea because he has been a collaborative force among Kansas filmmakers.”
Since Rea began submitting to Tallgrass, he has screened a film in almost every Tallgrass Film Festival. He also has served on the teams of many top Kansas short films submitted at the festival setting the record for the most films (12*) screened at Tallgrass by any one filmmaker. Rea has spent his formative film career in Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Film Studies and co-founded the company SenoReality Pictures with Ryan Jones (Coffeyville, KS). Rea resides in Kansas City, where he continues to collaborate with many KU colleagues. Rea’s retrospective includes three films: WRONG NUMBER, GET OFF MY PORCH and GOOD CONDUCT. Both GET OFF MY PORCH and GOOD CONDUCT were winners of the Best Kansas Short at past Tallgrass Film Festivals.
The rest of the short subject films span all genres and include 10 films: two animated, six live action and two documentaries including one that features Kansas Drive-in Theaters. The international short selections are from Spain, France, Argentina and the UK.
