Smallgrass: Family Friendly Programming at Exploration Place
Tallgrass & Exploration Place are joining forces once again to present Smallgrass, a children’s film program to be shown at Exploration Place (300 N. McLean Blvd), the Sedgwick County Science and Discovery Center, on Saturday, October 19th in conjunction with the 11th annual Tallgrass Film Festival.
Smallgrass is specifically curated for families with children ages 3 and up – and for the young at heart.
Cost of admission per person is $7, or $5 for members of TFA and Exploration Place, , and includes three film programs plus admission to Exploration Place exhibits.
*Tickets for Smallgrass will be sold exclusively at Exploration Place on the day of the show.
Schedule of Films:
11:00 am: Tail Spin: Aviation in Animation: Presented by Lamphouse Entertainment, this shorts program features a collection of classic cartoons.
1:00 pm: Earning Wings: A collection of short films from around the world, including animation and narrative films.
3:00 pm: FROM UP ON POPPY HILL: The critically-acclaimed animated feature film from the famed Japanese Director Goro Miyazaki tells the story of a group of Yokohama teens who look to save their school's clubhouse from the wrecking ball in preparations for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

“We had a wonderful response to Smallgrass last year from festival-goers and we’re sure that the program will grow more this year,” said Jan Luth, Exploration Place president. “A love of films starts early and we welcome the opportunity to introduce such a creative art form to young ones and their families.”
