2012 Wichita State University Film Conference The first annual Wichita State University Film Conference, coinciding with the annual Tallgrass Film Festival, will be held October 17th in Wichita, KS at the Hyatt Regency Wichita. The conference will include three- and four-person panels discussing, interpreting, and critiquing films. The theme of the conference, in keeping with the motto of our affiliate the Tallgrass Film Festival, is Independent Film, its evolution and impact. Submissions on this topic are particularly encouraged and panels on this topic will receive priority evaluation. But all subjects about film are welcome, including theoretical, generic, and regional approaches to film. This could include features filmed in or whose subject matter includes Kansas or the Midwest, films which feature Kansas personalities, and those made by individuals with ties to Kansas. Multiple concurrent sessions will be slated all day Wednesday. Panels submitted by students or filmmakers are invited. The conference is open to the general public and paid admission includes a VIP TALLPass.
